Carlo guillermo proto's first short film Pura Sangre has been screened at several film festivals across Canada and received the Best Emerging Local Filmmaker award at the 2005 Alucine International Latino Film Festival. With a broad experience in directing, producing and writing, Carlo has traveled extensively in Latin America. Much of his work focuses on the unique interplay between identity and human experience in relationship with geography, ethnicity and perceived disabilities.
Having produced several plays across Canada, Carlo was the General Manager and Company Producer for Toronto’s Cahoots Theatre Projects. During his time with the company he created The Cahoots Summer Youth Project, a subsidized summer camp for low-income families.
